Arsenal vs Liverpool Premier league 2016/17

Today we have the first match day of the Premier league and we have probably the most exciting match of the first match day as Arsenal hosts Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Both teams are big clubs of the Premier league and the first game of the season is very important for the players as it changes the morale of the players. Both teams have spent well in the transfer window and would want their players to perform well in the league. The new season kicks off with the some changes in the rules and with three new teams who have been promoted from the Championship as well.

Arsenal missed their chance of winning the league last season as they finished second to Leicester City and this was probably their best chance of winning the title in recent years. They were going well till January but after that they missed their chances, lost a few games and gave away the title. They have bought Granit Xhaka from Borussia M’Gladbach for 45 million Euros, have extended the contract of Wellington da Silva till 2020. They have loaned Wojciech Szczensy till 2017 as he wasn’t getting game time as Ospinia is the first choice keeper. Arsenal finished second on the table last season with 71 points from 38 games as they won 20, drew 11 and lost 7. They scored 65 goals and conceded 36 in total with Olivier Giroud being their top scorer and Mesut Ozil was the top assister of the league with 19 assists to his name.

Liverpool did not play up to their level in the Premier league last season as they finished eight on the table with 60 points from 38 games as they won 16 games, drew 12 and lost 10. They scored 63 goals in total and conceded 50 with Robert Firmino being their top scorer as he had 10 goals to his name. Benteke had nine goals and Coutinho had eight, James Milner provided 11 assists and Firmino had seven. They have bought several players in this transfer window, Loris Karius from Mainz, Sadio Mane from Southampton, Ragnar Klavan from Augsburg, Wijnaldum from Newcastle United.
